Benvenuti a Castelvetro, Terre di Castelli
Castelvetro si trova nel cuore dell'Emilia Romagna, tra Modena (Cattedrale, Torre Civica e Piazza Grande di Modena Patrimonio dell'UNESCO) e Bologna, vicina a Maranello (Terra della mitica Ferrari). Anticamente fu un insediamento etrusco poi, verso il 150 a.C., le legioni romane vi crearono un presidio militare, un CASTRUM (accampamento militare). Da qui il toponimo "Castelvetro" derivante dal latino CASTRUM VETUS (vecchio/antico accampamento). Il territorio di Castelvetro unisce pregi ed attrattive paesaggistiche, culturali ed enogastronomiche ad una politica di sviluppo del territorio basata sulla salvaguardia e la valorizzazione del suo ambiente in un'ottica di sviluppo sostenibile.
Dal 1994, data la forte vocazione vitivinicola del territorio, Castelvetro è CITTA' DEL VINO ; dal 2003 è Comune BANDIERA ARANCIONE (Marchio di qualità turistico ambientale del Touring Club Italiano) e dal 2008 ha ottenuto la Registrazione EMAS.
Castelvetro offre un gran numero di spunti per chi desidera conoscere la storia e la cultura del territorio riscoprendo importanti testimonianze dal passato. Il turista può scegliere tra vari percorsi tematici e tour guidati del territorio locale e della Provincia di Modena, da percorrere anche a piedi o in mountain bike.

Castelvetro is located in the heart of Emilia Romagna, in the foothills of the Apennines, near Maranello (land of the legendary Ferrari), between Modena (Cathedral, Torre Civica and Piazza Grande-UNESCO World Heritage) and Bologna. In ancient times Castelvetro was an Etruscan settlement. Around 150 BC the Roman legions led to the establishment of a military garrison among the hills, a CASTRUM (military camp). The city name of Castelvetro comes from the Latin “CASTRUM VETUS” (ancient camp). The area of Castelvetro boasts many merits and attractions in terms of scenery, culture and good food & wine, coupled with sustainable policies, in order to promote development without detrimental effects on the environment.
Since 1994, because of the deep wine vocation of its territory, Castelvetro is member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION “CITTA’ DEL VINO” (Cities of Wine). In 2003, Italian Touring Club awarded Castelvetro with the “BANDIERA ARANCIONE” (orange flag), a quality label for tourism. In 2008 the registration of EMAS project was completed. Castelvetro offers many suggestions for those willing to learn about local history and culture, rediscovering ancient and important testimonies. Here tourists can choose among a large number of themed itineraries and guided tours, travelling through the Province of Modena, by foot as well as by bike.
